Marine coordination and water safety

From lakes and rivers to the open ocean — marine logistics, safety boats and water safety teams that ensure your project runs safely and on schedule.

Regulatory Compliance

Our teams operate across the UK, Europe and Worldwide, evaluating local service providers and where possible, working with them. We provide a fully managed support package for productions of all sizes, from sheltered inland waterways to tidal estuaries and open sea.

Where required we will carry out recces, detailed risk assessments, tidal and weather planning, and direct liaison with all relevant regulatory bodies including the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), Port of London (PLA), Environmentally Agency (EA) and Canal & River Trust (CRT).

The Marine Coordinator

The Marine Coordinator oversees the entire marine project from the earliest concept and discussion stage all the way through the shoot to strike. They are the single conduit of clear, concise information for every department.

  • Project planning overview phase
  • Location weather and tidal planning
  • Location recces and liaising with owners and authorities
  • Water testing — “safe to bathe”, if required
  • Picture boat wrangling — for Art, Set Dec and Prop Departments
  • Supply of specific department vessels — production support, artist and VIP, utility runabouts, SFX, stunts
  • Lock off, safety and medical support boats
  • Supply of Rescue 3 safety swimmers and divers
  • Contingency planning

Our fleet

From rapid-deployment inflatable rescue boats to bespoke camera vessels and mud sledges, our fleet is purpose built and constantly changing to meet the demands of location filming in any water environment.

Surf Rescue Boats

Designed and manufactured in New Zealand our Arancia surf rescue boats are small, strong and agile. Ideal for getting safely through surf and used by the RNLI and surf rescue organisations around the world.

Mud & Camera Sleds

Our mud sleds are designed for Swift Water Rescue, Medivac, operating in muddy estuaries and in ice or very shallow water, where conventional boats cannot operate. Also ideal for a safe stable camera platform.

Utility Landing Craft & Camera Boats

Pioneer Multi’s are our inshore workhorses, they are both safe versatile and capable. They can carry a 1-ton load or 6 passengers and land them safely on a beach. They are also perfect for water safety, camera or drone platforms.

Rescue Boats

We supply water safety boats to suit the marine location. They are all correctly licensed and or coded for the section or category of water that we are working on.

Picture Boats

We have access to many picture boats, just let us know what type of boat you would like, and where you need it and we can start the search.

Marine Safety Equipment

We have a wide range of marine equipment in stock, from lifejackets, rescue sledges, water rescue stretchers, basket stretchers, confined space stretchers and jacobs cradles.

Rigid Pontoon

Our rigid pontoon is commercial grade, and is ideal for creating access across rivers, lakes and streams. It is also super stable and has a low free board, which makes it perfect for camera and crane use.

Inflatable Pontoon

Designed by us in house, our inflatable pontoon sections are commercial grade and come in 2.5m x 2.5m or 2.5m x 5.0m sections. They are the perfect solution for awkward access. We also have a section designed to wrap around a bow of a vessel to enable easy access for grips.

Working on the Thames

We carry out water safety work on the River Thames day and night with our colleagues from Livetts Launches, we have worked together for nearly 30 years providing a perfect solution to filming on the tidal Thames.

Water safety teams

Diving Services UK have been supplying water safety teams for over 35 years across the UK, Europe and Worldwide.

From a DEFRA and Royal Life Saving Society approved Module 3 Swift Water Rescue team on a remote mountain river location, through to a pool lifeguard and everything else in between.

We have worked in 0ºC to plus 50ºC water. We can also supply mud and ice safety, we tailor our teams and equipment to suit the project. We have a range of fully equipped 4×4’s vehicles that carry Oxygen and Penthrox. During recces teams can also carry out water testing and produce risk assessments if required.

Whatever the size of your production we’d love to hear from you
